A few years ago a friend asked that I write song lyrics for Leonard; this is what I came up with. She had hoped to make an album of original songs for Leonard. Unfortunately she became ill and was never able to complete her album. Originally written December 10th, 2011 by Bonnie Walker

You Walking in Freedom is What We See

We honor and support you Leonard Peltier,

Through the years we have shed many a tear,

The FBI and Cointelpro did you so bad,

Makes all of us righteously mad,

No justice for you has been found,

No worries though, we’ll always be around.

We shall keep demanding your clemency,

You walking in freedom is what we see,

That’s how it’s supposed to be.

You say your only crime was being Indian,

Wrong doers tried to kill you again and again,

Government trying to do genocide,

Ain’t no way for them to abide,

You are Stronger than they and we know that,

Your Truth and Spirit will hold you intact.

We shall keep demanding your clemency,

You walking in freedom is what we see,

That’s how it’s supposed to be.

We know that things are very tough,

We know you’ve had it very rough,

Please don’t lose faith, don’t lose hope,

Even though it’s hard to cope,

Freedom will come to you one day,

That’s what we work for, that’s what we pray.

We shall keep demanding your clemency,

You walking in freedom is what we see,

That’s how it’s supposed to be.

We shall keep demanding your clemency,

You walking in freedom is what we see,

That’s how it’s supposed to be.
