“I am everyone who ever died without a voice or a prayer or a hope or a chance… Everyone who ever suffered for being an Indian, for being human, for being indigenous, for being free, for being Other, for being committed…. I am every one of them. Every single one. Yes. Even you. I am everyone” ~~ Leonard Peltier
This Handy Contact Guide was first developed in January 2012 thru efforts of a number of Individuals from various organizations who support the innocence of Native American Political Prisoner Leonard Peltier. If you are unfamiliar with Leonard’s case briefly stated, he was arrested in Canada on February 6, 1976 for the killing of 2 FBI agents during the “Reign of Terror” on the Pine Ridge Reservation in Oglala, South Dakota on June 26, 1975. He was extradited to the USA on December 16, 1976. Both his arrest and extradition were based on falsified evidence from the FBI during the Presidency of Gerald Ford. During his trial and subsequent conviction in 1977 it became clear again that falsified evidence was submitted and that Leonard was not allowed to present a defense that would help to exonerate him. President James Carter was in office in 1977. To date this has been a 40 year (as of February 6, 2016) long struggle in which the true criminals in this case are the FBI and other agents of the US government. Now with almost 4 decades spent in Prison it remains that the ONLY Person who can release Leonard is the President of the United States (as designated in the US Constitution). Until January 2017, that is President Barack Obama! As long as Leonard remains incarcerated his needs remain; outreach must always continue and support reaffirmed. ************************************************************ The following is a listing of Agencies, Organizations and Individuals that Supporters are urged to use to bring Awareness, Support and Positive Action for Leonard Peltier!
