A May Twitter Storm for American Political Prisoners!

Let’s FREE Them ALL! The Justice System within the United States on both Federal and State levels has been broken since its inception. In case you are unaware there have been recent developments to repair (some) long-standing problems. The push now is to release prisoners who have received “outdated and unfair sentences”; there is a call out for federal inmates to submit clemency petitions to President Obama. The inmates that seem to be getting looked at first at the federal level are those who have been associated with drug crimes. Some States are also looking to make changes; inmates in State prisons would send their clemency petitions to their respective governors. Please see these articles for a more in-depth discussion >
http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2014/4/16/clemency-pardonsobama.html and http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/justice-finally-comes-the-pardons-office

No one has yet to mention those who have been wrongfully incarcerated from the get-go due to prejudicial police agents, investigators, judges and/or juries. There are too many inmates to count (in both Federal & State) who are innocent — but because of racial/ethnic ancestry, socio-economic class, religious/spiritual affiliations, sexual orientation & gender issues, mental illnesses or what-have-you they have been literally locked away and (presumed) forgotten. Jeff Mizanskey, a Missori State inmate is one such individual who has been given a life sentence for marijuana-related crimes; none of which were violent, included weapons or involved minors. Unconscionable!

No one has yet to mention Political Prisoners! In both State and Federal Prisons these individuals are considered “high profile” because of their political and/or social (activist) affiliations. They have been incarcerated due to unscrupulous and prejudicial behaviors by various individuals, agencies and organizations. In many cases evidence has been bogus or altered, “witnesses” have been intimidated, and due process of law has not been granted. These individuals are being used by both Federal and State government as a “warning to the people”! Many Political Prisoners such as Native American Activist Leonard Peltier are innocent and evidence of innocence is undisputed, yet they remain chained. There are some Political Prisoners such as Environmental Activist Marie Mason who are guilty of their crimes, yet the sentence they have received does not fit the inmate’s actual involvement in the crime for which they are imprisoned. On-line Lists of American Political Prisoners are plentiful; here are 2 such lists > http://nycabc.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/nycabc_polprisonerlisting_8-8nov2013.pdf and http://www.thejerichomovement.com/prisoners.html The American government disavows Our Political Prisoners as they do not wish to concede of any malfeasance. The passing of South Africa’s Nelson Mandela (may he rest in Peace and Grace) in December 2013 opened the door somewhat for the American People; more individuals became aware. Indeed Madiba’s own 28 year incarceration was in part brought on by the USA. Appalling! The cry to end InJustice began to be echoed even louder and the man asked to open the door to Freedom is President Obama > http://www.counterpunch.org/2013/12/16/americas-own-political-prisoners/ (also contains a short list of Political Prisoners).

During the Month of May we are calling on our friends, families and all who support Fair & Equal Justice to make their voices heard! We want our Political Prisoners and those wrongfully incarcerated/detained and those with unjust sentencing to be released. This is a big a broad topic and with so many individuals involved and in deed the best way to do this is with whatever device you use to access the Internet. Twitter is the easiest and quickest way to do this; but phone calls, e-mails, and letter writing are also solid ways to speak out for Justice. For tweeting for Federal or State Political Prisoners, we suggest using the Hashtag #freeallpoliticalprisoners. Using this Hashtag it will be easier for others to re-tweet. For other prisoners you can create a Hashtag by using # with their name and no spaces > (example > #KennethSedillo).

The following are a short list of 12 Political Prisoners who have been in the (on-line) news of late (we have included some facebook links and twitter addresses, although some are not as current as we’d like them to be):
